Destination Xterra

Here is a bear of a project that started merely as a cool idea. It went something like this:
‘Wouldn’t it be great if we traveled around the country and made a TV show about people who take their Nissan Trucks off road?’
Back in 2003-2004, I started taking my DVX100 along on some of my backwoods excursions. My travels even brought me to the Easter Jeep Safari out in Utah. The footage I captured was always entertaining, and soon enough I had a little library of trucks getting stuck, breaking parts, and rolling over. The idea of creating a web series was born, and a few ideas sprang from it. This included traveling around the country in search of new stories, and running a website that would post updates about our travels. Myself and a small crew headed out on a two month journey that lead us all the way around the US and even into Canada! Every week we ran a “Show 'N Shine” at a local Nissan dealership, with hot dogs, music, and plenty of giveaways. The following day we headed to the trails to do a webisode on the local terrain. The footage was logged, sent back to NJ, edited, and posted to the website. We attracted a lot of attention both with our sponsors and the media, including a four page article in 4WD Magazine.
After our travels, the goal was to turn the show into a pilot and try to sell it to a company or network. We had negotiations both with Nissan and Rainbow Media, but an agreement was never reached.
This whole idea was managed, produced, shot, directed, and edited by Jared Morgan.
